What is Your Self Portrait?

“Every job is a self portrait of the person who does it. Autograph your work with excellence.” – Unknown. I have read and re-read this quote. I’ve mulled it over in my head and bit my lips over it.
How about you? Does this seem like a truth to you, too, yet perhaps a heavy burden?
I keep thinking, “Who could I live up to that all the time?” Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence is my top strength, so this quote grabbed me by the collar.
Just how much of my work has been excellent? “Yikes!” to consider, as my dry-mouth syndrome kicked in.
How would you answer?
- Are you proud of your self portrait?
- Do you look at it and smile?
- Isn’t it amazing to ponder?
But it still leaves me with dry mouth syndrome.
Do you kick yourself in the butt and let your inner critic roar when you screw up? If so, join me in the “You Try Too Hard Club!”
And we both need to cut it out! Remember, self-love means acceptance. You are OK just by being wonderful you. Be kind to yourself, please and treat yourself as nicely as you treat others.
Seriously, what is your opportunity here?
What if you chose to be aware.
To know, really know, you are worthy, creative, whole, good enough, and always lovable?
You are! Even if some days it’s all you can do to get by. You are human. Maybe excellence is just being able to function. Even if you don’t get everything painted on your canvas exactly the way you might like, do the best you can.
So what if your wonderfully colorful palette, your best self you, has a few smudges or you color out of the lines?
I always knew you were a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Brush strokes of artistic splendor.
Just by being you.
How’s that for excellence?
