Are You A Nickname Word-Weirdo?

I was reading a blog this morning that mentioned the phrase, “Spunky, funky.” ‘Course I have been called  ”Dr. Spunk”, “Funky fun gal”, the “Uniquely human, passionately persuasive” shrink and coach too. I’m sure I’ve been labeled with a myriad of other names, also. Or perhaps even called other names not appropriate to post! But who hasn’t been? Humor is a terrific survival strength.

How about you? Do you have a nickname? Do you like it? Or maybe you wear a name you call yourself? Why? What were its origins?

It struck me this morning there are certain words I wrap my brain and heart around. Not nicknames nor descriptions, just words I’m fond of. Stimulators. Smile-makers. Is that weird? Do you have words you adore or that you are curiously drawn to?

A few words sprout sunny smiles for me: serendipitous, synchronicity, kaleidoscopic, metaphorical, cacophony, myriad, raucous, vicissitudes, harmonious…I could go on and on.

Now for the fun. Sit down with yourself and see if you see a common theme. Now get out your VIA strengths list and see if a theme shouts out to you.

Look at my word list and you will see humor, creatively infinite possibilities, art, spirituality and curiosity.

So how about you? Cut yourself some slack. Take a few moments to play as you create your word list. What strengths do you notice in the words you love?

And to add to our fun, pretty please, might you playfully email me your nickname. I promise not to laugh. OK, well, I’ll only laugh a little. Not LOL, anyway! And you can laugh at me: Judy-Bug, Jumping Judy, Joyful Judy, and Energizer Bunny Judy.

Having fun yet? Some days it’s good to be weird. I always tease and say I gave up normal for Lent one year and never took it back. Come on! Join me in Weirdo World. I always did think normal was overrated!
