Would You Like Extra Time With Your Coffee?

Ya gotta laugh. Well, you don’t have to, but if there is one thing coaching has taught me, it is letting go. Taking a second to laugh. I am looking at my little statue of Laughing Buddha right now and I can see him chuckling with delight that I did not let rising blood pressure nor a rare over 15 hour day schedule damper my morning. I fly to Deleware to see Mom tomorrow, so with sweet anticipation, I was very happy to load up the day today. See if this has ever happened to you…
I arose to the 3:30 a.m. alarm. I needed to review a huge writing project before my clients began to show up (Yikes, it just hit me I need to vacuum!) at 6 a.m. I was so proud of myself, as I had made the coffee the night before. All I had to do was turn on the pot. I stumbled in the dark, revved up the pot, brushed my teeth, straightened up some files, and was ready to go!
Off to get a cup of brew. Bless his heart, Ken had put the coffee pot into the dishwasher last night. We even discussed how to get it in and his engineering skills did the trick. Clean pot here we come. Except I forgot to fetch it from the dishwasher to put it in the coffee machine. You guessed it. I turned on the light to see coffee spilled all over the granite counter tops and floor. It seeped into the kitchen drawer filled with two new tea towels, too. I used four more towels to mop up the mess, and now I’d get an extra load of laundry done. Look for the good!
I laughed and thought, “Well, that’s one way to get everything clean this morning!” Shifts in perspective. Learn to release all that does not serve you.
What has happened to you recently that you might have laughed at instead of getting angry? I cherish you and don’t want you to trigger a stroke or heart attack! You sure as heck don’t want to trigger veins bulging in your head!
Me? I made another pot of coffee, added some naughty white mocha creamer and Stevia, and I am sipping away in bliss. Come on and join me. What can I get ya?
