Last but not least, bareback horse riding, here we come. No-fear Faye J. climbs up on “Left” first. Grammy holds onto her tightly. She is as relaxed as a noodle. Gracie decides to watch and get the lay of the land. Smart, careful cookie. When I ask Gracie if she wants to ride alone, she replies, “No, Grammy, you better ride with me”. So I relish a double ride.

“Aunt Annie” holds the reign in hand, and the girls are in horse heaven. So is Grammy. Keep Reading…

A Visit To “Aunt Annie’s” Cabin

If you had all the colors of the rainbow in your back pocket, what would you paint as a perfect day with your grand kids?
Our two cute and inquisitive little grand daughters are joyfully awaiting a special moment. For the very first time, they are going to meet their mysterious “Aunt Annie” of creature/critter fame.
Each summer Annie generously drops off large pails of wiggly tadpoles that keep the girls mesmerized and fascinated for hours. She researched and thoughtfully printed out “How to Identify Your Frog and Russian Tortoise” instructions. Annie is the thorough and caring sort.
They knew her kindness already, but only by proxy. Their beloved pet Russian tortoise, Gregorski, Greg for short, was rescued from the mouth of one of Aunt Annie’s overly exuberant dogs. When Annie asked “Would the girls want a tortoise?”, I knew that terrapin was going to truck his way into their town! Terrifically tame tortoise in toe, and armed with food and care directions, Annie skillfully organized the “No, Judy, it isn’t a turtle” transfer. The girls wondered why an unknown lady would bestow upon them their first beloved pet.
The colors will never fade. It will be the kind of day whose freeze-framed photos will bring a gentle smile to my face and hopefully to all our faces.
