Memorial Day Gratitude

My dad and his three of his brothers served in WWII. I had the privilege to work for the US Army in Germany during the Vietnam era. One of my greatest honors was to adopt a Marine platoon fighting for our freedom in Iraq.

Ever get an email from a guy getting bombed while typing to you from a keyboard with half the keys missing? Just hoping you would be there? Life-changing appreciation.

God bless our troops. Freedom comes at an enormous price. Courage and valor are special strengths these guys and gals harness every day.

Gratitude for all of those who serve our country?
Understatement.

Lasting Legacies

I woke up today knowing that it was Father’s Day. Yesterday, I was waxing philosophically looking at old photos of my Mom and her dad, my Pop Pop. At 90, Mom still remembers her childhood as if it were yesterday. I only have a few photos of my Daddy, Winston Churchill Burgess. Were he alive, he would be 101 this week. Wow. I think how grateful I am to have had these two men in my life, though our time together was way too short. Keep Reading…
