Paddling Love of Learning ~ Radio Show Rocks!

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

What puts both your oars in the water and takes you
on a marvelous lazy day trip cruising crystal clear waters?

Mine is when I get an email like this from true-blue,
loyal radio listener, Ann, who wrote:

Dear Judy,
I finally took the time to listen to the wonderful radio show.
It rocks! What a treat it was for the end of a good day.
Like everyone else, I have struggled with life, and this
show added so much joy! Here are a few things that
I am going to take from your show and use.

* Use Strengths!
* Spot your strengths.
* Do the VIA (at viacharacter.org)
* Shake it off!!! Whatever “it” is or another word that rhymes with that word!
* HUMOR!
* Use several strength at one time. (that one will be work for me)
* Unlock your power of positivity
* Be BRAVE

Again, it was a treat to listen to both of you and thank you for taking
time to share your time and knowledge with others. Good luck with
your new book. I already have mine ordered at your website.

Mom and Me ~ Two Peas In a Pod

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

Who’s the sweet pea with who shares your pod? Why?
What’s in your pod? Maybe you’re in a garden?
Or perhaps in the garden of life?

Mom and I sit cozily in our pod, sharing stories and photos.
These days, most of them are from our 42 years of traveling
together ~ holding tigers, riding elephants, and savoring gorgeous tropical flowers.
Romancing positive reminiscence. She loves when I remind her of the places we
saw in Cuba, even if our memories are separated by 57 years.

We both thank God every day for Mom’s sharp memory. Gratitude with a grin!

Want to see 134 photos Mom and I have shared in the book I wrote for her?
You can! Grab your copy of my new book
“Photo Adventures in Cuba ~ Unlock Your Power of Positivity”
at http://www.coachingpositivity.com/photo-adventures-in-cuba/
and travel along with us.

Get glee in your itinerary. Treat yourself. Be our travel partner. Feel our fun.

Is that you I see packing your positivity suitcase?

Did You Ever Save A Life?

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

What have you always wanted to do?
Why have you have kept it in a drawer?
What opportunity knocks?

Meet Heidi, my son Sean’s adorable girlfriend.
They weren’t hooked up last fall when she stepped up
to the plate and let her leadership, kindness, and
quick action planning take wing.

Nor had she ever para-sailed, a life’s dream.

Last fall, Heidi saved Sean’s life after he was attacked in Milwaukee.
Cold-cocked and looking dead, (We saw the tape and it was enough
to make me puke!) when he finally awoke, Heidi insisted he go to
the ER. He objected, thinking he was OK, but his inappropriate
verbalizations and her sharp instincts ruled. Harnessing her critical
thinking, she cajoled him to go to the ER.

I will never forget that day. It was about 4:30am.
Shocked, I had received an emergency call from Delaware that I
had better get there lickity-split. Mom was in the ER with
life-threatening blood clots. I was calling the airport praying for
a flight to DE when 5 minutes later the Milwaukee ER called to say
Sean had a brain bleed and other injuries and we better get there ASAP.
OMG! It’s a 75 minute drive in good traffic. Gulp and prayers.

Look for the good. Understanding clients were canceled on the drive.
Ken is a good driver. Both were alive, BUT I was a wreck. Mom had
someone with her at the hospital and things were looking better for her.
No way could I tell her about Sean, so I had to make an excuse until
I could arrange to fly to DE.

Thank God both recovered. Huge gratitude.

This photo of Heidi flying high in Puerto Valletta means the world to me,
even if she did tease me for insisting she get the most colorful parachute.
I told her she deserved color. I wanted the cheerful artist in her to savor
this photo forever.

How do you ever express your gratitude to the person who saved your son’s life?
I will never be able to, but at least I had the sheer joy of watching her have fun.
Healthy now, smiling Sean was sitting nearby with Ken, taking it all in.

Maybe you’ve saved someone’s life and maybe you haven’t, but just by being you,
you are special. You deserve to make your special dream come true, too. Go for it!

What if you pretended all the color’s in Heidi’s parachute were strengths.
Why not paint the stripes with strengths words and make a plan and
commit to use at least a day?

Or pretend it is you in the parka-sail harness.
What strengths would be flying with you?
OK if you want to go tandem, I’ll fly with you.
Tandem tootsies!
Sharing is caring.

Gratitude Blast from the Past

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

Don’t you love it when out of the blue someone from years ago reconnects with you?

Thanks exactly what happened to me today. An unexpected zip mailer package
came in the mail. I recognized the name on the return address, but I had not
spoken to this lovely young gal in several years. We met at a seminar I presented.
I recollected a special talk we had had, and I felt a smile illuminate my grateful
being as I remembered part of her story.

Positive reminiscence is one of my favorite life joys.

I held onto that package like an anxious child waiting to unwrap a Christmas gift.
I love surprises. I savored it before I zestfully ripped the zip tab.
What could this be? Why after all these years would I hear form her?
My curiosity meter was at 100% excitement.

The gift was terrific! A book, “The Power of Layered Leadership” by Bob Goshen.
I loved the book, but her beautiful thank you card was the real show-stopper.
I will never forget reading it. Never. It gave me huge pause.
After all this time, she wanted to thank me. To tell you the truth, I felt humbled
and unworthy, but she obviously felt otherwise, and I needed to honor that.
Sometimes you need to suck up the reality:
You are unique and you DO touch the lives of others.
It was a tough nut for this nutty coach to swallow.

I don’t know about you, but is praise sometimes hard for you to swallow, too?
Want my advice? Enjoy every blamed word of praise and suck it up like a
hummingbird on her last run of the day! Forget humility and remind yourself,
YOU MATTER!

When’s the last time you took a moment and thanked someone from your past?
Immersed them with gratitude?  Funny thing, YOU will feel better than
they do after you treat them to your appreciation. Try it.

So here’s to YOU!
Thanks for enjoying my blog and for adding such vivid color to my life.
Peacocks got nothing on brilliantly grateful you!

Grammy’s Double Lick of Love

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

Can you imagine a photo of yourself feeling at your best?

Wonder what you’d say if you were 92 years old?

Do you hope pets will surround you? Or maybe 2-legged family you adore?

You see it here. Joy, Love, Life satisfaction. Mom at her best self.

As she said this morning, “This is the perfect morning!”
Five dogs came into her room and vied for lap or lick time.
Sweethearts, Kiki in white, and Mugsy in brown.
Both rescue dogs who hit the jackpot when Cathy strolled into the shelter.
The other three are too big for Mom’s lap, but after Mom pets, they settle for a rest.

I don’t know about you, but I pray there will be someone to take immaculate care
of me the way Cathy and Bill gift Mom with a luminous life. Despite her huge health
challenges, meaning, pleasure, and loving engagement are parked right along side
Mom’s wheelchair.

This is my optimistic Mom; gratitude with a doggy grin.

Was that you I saw grabbing your keys to head to the shelter?
Tell ‘em Grammy Louise sent you!
