Mom’s Heavenly Earth Angels, Cathy & Bill

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

Who are your earth angels?

Take a moment, pause, and remind yourself of the people
who kindly are the wind beneath your wings.

I have been in Delaware with Mom for 10 of the best days of my life,
helping mom after her recent move to her new home. Do I miss Ken?
You bet. But he is my empathetic earth angel who adores Mom, too.

Here are Mom’s earth angels, Cathy and Bill. Many of you have
asked me, “Who are these remarkable people who resigned their jobs to
look after Mom?” Well, here they are. Can you feel their love?
Bill and Cathy, met at work in Vermont.
They loved Delaware so they recently moved south.
Mom’s and my heroes.

Think “incredible kindness, compassion, and loving generosity beyond belief.

Mom’s New Delaware Paradise ~ Peace and Passions!

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

Want to make your Mother’s Day as happy as mine?
How about strapping on strengths wings and fly to Delaware with me?

Courage. Creativity. Beauty. Kindness. Peace. Gratitude. Generosity.
Belongingness. Peace. Friendship. Warm, open hearts.

I am sitting here with Mom in her new Delaware country home!

My terrific best friends, Bob and Cheryl, orchestrated her move.
Thanks to another special couple sent from heaven, Cathy and Bill,
Mom, 92, chirps, “I feel alive again!” They have joyfully welcomed
Mom into their sunny, cheerful home.

Mom loves pets. Five feisty dogs and three parrots delightfully engage her.
A beautiful forest reserve adorns the end of five rose-studded acres.
Mom savors cheerful, chirping birds who nod their crested heads her way.
She is anxiously anticipating the herd of deer who lounge near her window.
Her old dinner bell from her family farm, I think about 150 years old,
is now back in her grateful gaze.

Seeing Mom so happy was worth its weight in gold.
No. Make that all the colors of the rainbow.
And that’s what Mom and I wish for you!

My Hotel Room in Exotic Cuba

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

Are you curious about what my hotel room looked like
at the historical Hotel National in Havana, Cuba?
OK, I’m fessing up. I already know some of you are,
as you have back-channel emailed me, begging to
see more photos! So here you go.

I’ll be sending you more photos soon, but today I’ll begin
with a couple I have not included in my new book,
“Photo Adventures in Cuba.” As you can see, my room
was clean and simple. The furniture was older, not yet
antique status, but fine. The maids were lovely. I left them
American treats every day – nylons, chocolate candy,
colored pens and paper, pencils, lollipops, combs, and
small cosmetics. Things I had researched before my trip
and knew were in short supply.

To my delightful surprise, I got personal notes of gratitude every day.
Joyfully zestful sentences festooned with flowers, hearts
and smiley faces with heartfelt messages, written in
rudimentary English. How wonderful, after a long day of sightseeing,
to be greeted with a kind thank you treat! A kiss of Cuban bliss.

Cubans often do not have even the most basic supplies.
Sad, yet they are resilient as all get out. Their genuine
appreciation of any tiny gesture melted my heart.

What are you grateful for? Who have you told? What are you waiting for?

Time ain’t standing still, ya know?

Coming and Going ~ Patience and Flower Petals

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

What buds burst open for you in springtime?

When I was getting ready to leave Puerto Vallarta to go back to Wisconsin world,
I admit it came with a mixed jelly bean bag of every emotion in the book.
Sadness to leave the beauty, warmth, and the sounds of the lilting waves upon
the shore below our jungle perch. Joy to know I would be seeing Mom,
the grand kids and the rest of the family. Prayers that the 6″ of snow my city
received recently would have vanished. Anticipation of planting my garden.
Stacks of mail to trudge through. My life transitioning from a waltz in Mexico
to the hubbub of home.

I was mourning my gardenia plant I have lovingly nurtured.
Patiently, I waited 4 months to savor her fragrant blooms.
Finally, wouldn’t ya know, she is ready to pop forth with 40 blooms.
Drat! I am going to miss her splendor by a day or two.

Feeling sorry for myself, I knew I needed positive psychology coaching.
I put on my gratitude grin and searched for a way to shift my perspective.
Aha! These yellow blossoms chirped cheer! Look for the good.

What is blossoming in your life right now?

What do you hope will blossom?

What to want to blossom?

What do you need to blossom?

Funny what came to mind. The words: “Today” and “Yes!”
Is that you I see dancing to the tune, “That’s the way, aha, aha, I like it. I like it?”

How to Raise Your Kid with an A+ in Positivity!

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

What if you knew, absolutely knew, you could raise your kids to learn positivity
early in their impressionable lives? Wouldn’t you love to watch them ripple their
newly learned character strengths into their community and the whole waiting
world? Can you imagine the universal energy shift? What a thrill as you watch
your kids soar with happy resourcefulness?

Here’s how to ramp up your kids’ resilience

I am blessed to have a phenomenally brilliant, kind, and generous mentor,
Dr. Ryan Niemiec, Educational Director for the famed VIA Institute on Character.
He is delighted to share with you an incredible new professional video
(8 minute documentary) on YouTube, created by the VIA Institute this year.
It portrays the VIA character strengths in action in an elementary school
and integrates interviews with teachers, 4th grade students, parents, and
VIA Chairman, Neal Mayerson.

This amazing video is just a sliver of what is possible in enhancing learning and
enriching students’ lives when character strengths are integrated seamlessly
into the classroom.

This poignant video will blow your mind with possibilities.

And deep bows of gratitude to Ryan for writing a great testimonial
for the cover of my soon-to-be released strengths book,
“Photo Adventures in Cuba ~ Unlock Your Power of Positivity.”
