3 Tips How to Exercise Your Personal Affirmation Muscle

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

How do you start your day? Do you have a spiritual ritual, prayer, or reading that
reminds you how you want to show up each day?

Some people call this self-message an “intention”. Others call it personal
“affirmation”. These are messages you give yourself to live your BEST LIFE
now. To thrive every day you are alive. Here’s how:

1. Make a list of your most positive personality strengths and values. Don’t
be humble. Be grateful for who you are. Review your Values in Action Survey
(VIA) results (viacharacter.org) They are a breath of fresh air reminding you
how wonderful you are. Loving yourself makes it easier then to blast your
“pay it forward” energy out into the universe.

2. Stay in the NOW. Use the present tense. Use action verbs. Remind yourself
today is your day. Remember your unconscious believes what you tell it,
so empower your positivity to star on your stage each day. Lift up your curtain
with a smile.

3. Cope, not mope! Know how you REACT to life dictates whether you live your
values. If you tell yourself negative self talk, that is your reality. If you tell
yourself, “This sucks, but I will use my strengths to cope”, that black smear of
ink on your life won’t be permanent.

Here’s what Zig Ziglar suggests as an affirmation:

I look in the mirror and say, “I (your name) am honest and intelligent. I am
kind and loving and I am loved. I am a great listener. I am consistent and
persistent. I am creative and spontaneous. I am courageous. I recognize
and take advantage of opportunities that come my way.  I am positive.
Today is going to be an absolutely fantastic day. Great things will happen
today. I love you.”

You are unique! These are Zig’s words. Why not use our own to create a
paragraph that fits your like a comfy bedroom slipper? I know mine would
need the word humor injected somewhere.

I would love to hear from you. Remember…Sharing is caring. Now’s the time
to be daring! How about making me smile and flash me your intention? Just
add your post below. We’ll compare notes when I return from Nepal and Tibet!

Musical Spirituality

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

Have you ever worked so hard at your computer, your back was screaming,
“Have mercy!?”

You needed to take a break, but your tenacity kept you planted, typing away.
A strength, stubbornly in your way.

I argued with my backache, engendered by my strenuous weeding yesterday.
But that’s when it happened.

I got an uplifting email from my friend, Bonnie Baker, in Milford, DE.
I paused. I smiled when I saw his name, Bocelli.

A musical message helped me re-frame and get back in the real world balance game.
“Take a break, for Pete’s sake! Cut yourself some slack!,” I admonished myself.

I turned up the volume, closed my eyes, and heaven opened up.
When is the last time you let notes of joy seep into your sensorium?
How about right now?

Coming and Going ~ Patience and Flower Petals

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

What buds burst open for you in springtime?

When I was getting ready to leave Puerto Vallarta to go back to Wisconsin world,
I admit it came with a mixed jelly bean bag of every emotion in the book.
Sadness to leave the beauty, warmth, and the sounds of the lilting waves upon
the shore below our jungle perch. Joy to know I would be seeing Mom,
the grand kids and the rest of the family. Prayers that the 6″ of snow my city
received recently would have vanished. Anticipation of planting my garden.
Stacks of mail to trudge through. My life transitioning from a waltz in Mexico
to the hubbub of home.

I was mourning my gardenia plant I have lovingly nurtured.
Patiently, I waited 4 months to savor her fragrant blooms.
Finally, wouldn’t ya know, she is ready to pop forth with 40 blooms.
Drat! I am going to miss her splendor by a day or two.

Feeling sorry for myself, I knew I needed positive psychology coaching.
I put on my gratitude grin and searched for a way to shift my perspective.
Aha! These yellow blossoms chirped cheer! Look for the good.

What is blossoming in your life right now?

What do you hope will blossom?

What to want to blossom?

What do you need to blossom?

Funny what came to mind. The words: “Today” and “Yes!”
Is that you I see dancing to the tune, “That’s the way, aha, aha, I like it. I like it?”

Japanese Canine Compassion

This is Botine, my friend Sally’s Chihuahua.
He’s thanking his lucky stars to be so safe and loved.

Did you see this video and read the earth quake story behind it?
If you didn’t, get out your Kleenex.
I have read that both dogs are doing well.

We are all sending hope, love and prayers to Japan.

Where is your compassion, empathy, loyalty, perseverance and spirituality today?

In Memory Of Mom’s Scottie, Katie

© 2011 Dr. Judy Krings

Mom’s beloved Scottie dog Katie crossed over the Rainbow Bridge today. There are no words poignant enough to express their loving bond. Hearts intertwined for all time. This is for you, Mom and Katie.

Treasured Friend

I lost a treasured friend today
The little dog who used to lay
Her gentle head upon my knee
And shared her silent thoughts with me.

She’ll come no longer to my call
Retrieve no more her favorite ball
A voice far greater than my own
Has called her to his golden throne.

Although my eyes are filled with tears
I thank him for the happy years
He let her spend down here with me
And for her love and loyalty.

When it is time for me to go
And join her there, this much I know
I shall not fear the transient dark
For she will greet me with a bark.
